Sierra College is gearing up for its unique annual EARTH DAY festival on Thursday, April 25, from 10 AM - 3 PM. This isn't just any festival; it's a fun-filled day dedicated to celebrating our amazing planet and addressing the climate crisis. The festival is a hub of knowledge, offering resources on various environmental topics, from deforestation to managing water resources to starting a compost pile. It's a platform that promotes sustainability, encourages green lifestyle choices, and shares best practices. Moreover, it's not just about learning but also about taking action. Some groups participating in Earth Day offer volunteer opportunities for students or inspire them to engage in environmental activism.

Once again, we are proud to announce the participation of several local Democratic organizations. Their presence is not just a show of solidarity but a testament to the importance of the event. For us, the ultimate goal is to make students aware of how voting matters—especially for the future of our planet! Last year, festival staff arranged for Auburn Area Democrats (AADC), Placer Action Network (PAN), and Placer Women Democrats (PWD) to have side-by-side booths, creating a powerful display of Democratic unity. We have requested a similar set-up this year to continue our collective efforts in engaging young voters at this critical time.

From past surveys conducted by AADC Voter Registration teams on the Sierra campus, we understand that CLIMATE CHANGE is among students’ top concerns, if not their most pressing concern. Sierra’s Earth Day event is a platform that allows us to address these concerns directly. It's an opportunity to have valuable conversations with students on topics related to their environmental concerns. While engaging with students, we can promote the candidates and electoral choices that will best serve our planet’s needs and students’ future. With our Democratic alliance on campus for the day, we can reach more young people and bring more attention to our excellent candidates, Jessica Morse and Neva Parker!

This popular event celebrating our Planet Earth highlights the Sierra College community’s commitment to our environment. By participating in this Earth Day event, AADC, PAN, and PWD show our Democratic commitment to young voters.
