The 2022 election cycle is coming to a close. There are many winners, many losers, and many races still too close to call. What does this mean for you? Let's discuss.
If you are reading this article you are probably aware that Democrats have retained control of the US Senate. You are probably also aware that the Republicans are leading in their efforts to gain control of the House of Representatives. Conventional wisdom would have handed control of the Senate to the GOP as well. But as we've heard far too often in the recent past: these are unprecedented times.
There are many in the GOP who are ready to move away from their last presidential candidate. But there are many supporters of that candidate who are willing to sink our Democratic ship out of loyalty to that Grifter-in-Chief. Be prepared for numerous House hearings similar to the ones dealing with Benghazi. Whatever the topic, we can expect wall-to-wall coverage of the hearings by the media. We must gird our loins in anticipation.
In contrast, we should expect the Senate to try to push legislation in support of the President's agenda. Unfortunately, Democrats hold the slimmest of margins over the Republicans. With two "Democrats" who routinely side against the President and our Democratic platform, expect few victories in the Senate, and even fewer bills reaching the President's desk.
Locally, Placer Democrats are holdings their collective breath as votes are being counted in the race for CD3. Regardless of who wins that race Placer Democrats should continue speaking in support of our Democratic ideals.
Looking down the road toward 2024 (yes, that cycle is already underway), Placer Democrats will begin their efforts to recruit and train the next set of challengers for races such as County Supervisor, City Council, and various School Boards. The next challenger to win a seat could be you. Let us help you win your race!
